Austin Man Pleads Not Guilty In Murder/Attempted Murder Case
Austin, MN (KROC AM News) - An Austin man charged with killing his stepson pleaded not guilty Monday morning.
Murder and attempted murder charges have been filed against 27-year-old Jaime Vaca.
He is accused of stabbing and critically wounding his wife and killing her 15-year-old son during a domestic fight in the family's home on Dec 15th.
Austin police say Vaca had stabbed his wife in the neck and was choking her when the teenager tried to save her. Police say that’s when Vaca also stabbed him in the neck. The teenager was able to call 911 before collapsing. The teenager later died and the woman underwent life-saving surgery.
The criminal complaint indicates the violence broke out during a fight between Vaca and his wife concerning his employment.
Vaca remains in the Mower County jail. No trial date has yet been set.
