Maybe I'm just a nerd but any time I see a bald eagle I'll always ooh and ahh like it's the first time I've seen one in my life. They're just so majestic and cool to watch!
We have quite a few bald eagles in Minnesota but there's one small town that recently had quite an influx of them.

Bald Eagles Invade Carver County Small Town
This happened in the small town of Cologne, Minnesota, which is just west of the Twin Cities and with a population of just over 2,000.
As you may know, word gets around fast in a small town so when these bald eagles started showing up, everyone knew about it pretty quickly!

There were people out taking pictures and I'd imagine many more who stopped by just to watch.
All of the bald eagles had descended upon Meuwissen Lake.
But why?
Why Bald Eagles Invaded Small Town Minnesota
There are many reasons why bald eagles will flock to one particular location or another. WCCO spoke with wildlife experts about it and they said "breeding, nesting, [and] establishing territory" are all possible reasons.
But there's one that they think is the true reason for the Cologne invasion: food.
Meuwissen Lake has been stocked with fish for the past few years by the Benton Lake Watershed Conservancy. Richard Arnst from the conservancy spoke with WCCO and said that as soon as the ice melted, the bald eagles arrived, clearly looking for food.
They're also thinking that fish from Benton Lake flowed into Lake Meuwissen adding to the selection for the bald eagles' meals.
