Two Minnesota Community Colleges Named Some of the Best in the US

College might be of interest to you but not a 4-year degree. That's where community colleges come in.

There are tons of community and technical colleges around Minnesota and across the country. But there are two community colleges in Minnesota that were just named among the 20 best in the entire country. Now that's impressive!

Best Community and Technical Colleges in Minnesota

There are over 1,000 community colleges in the US, and in Minnesota there are 40. So being named one of the 20 best is incredible.

The numbers were crunched by WalletHub to find these 20 best community colleges. They looked into things like tuition cost, student-to-faculty ratio, and graduation rate.

Minnesota State Community and Technical College

Out of the two Minnesota community colleges that made the top 20, Minnesota State Community and Technical College came in at number 16. They have campuses in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena.

The 2026-27 tuition cost is $3,135 per term and their best category from WalletHub's research is in Career Outcomes.

Alexandria Technical and Community College

The other community college that made the cut is Alexandria Technical and Community College in Alexandria taking the number 10.

The 2026-27 tuition cost is $230.06 per credit for in-person courses  and $249.37 per credit for online courses. The category where they shined the most in WalletHub's study was also in Career Outcomes.
