Remember The Boy Band That Pretended to Be from Minnesota?
In the early and late 2000s, we had tons of boy bands popping up left and right. No one was complaining (at least in my age group); it was the best time of our lives!
There was one boy band in particular called Big Time Rush that was formed in 2009 and signed a deal with Nickelodeon Records.
Big Time Rush History
Big Time Rush was together from 2009 to 2014. In 2014, they decided to put a pause on the group and focus on solo projects.

Then, not too long ago, in 2021, they got back together and came out with a new album in 2023 called Another Life. They even just kicked off a tour at the beginning of July!
During the first stretch of their time as a band, though, they not only were signed on with Nickelodeon Records, but they also had a TV show on Nickelodeon.

Big Time Rush TV Show
The TV show, which was called 'Big Time Rush' and ran from 2009 to 2013, featured the guys from Big Time Rush portraying "a fictional version of themselves". But they all used their actual names (Kendall Knight, James Diamond, Carlos Garcia, and Logan Mitchell) and the actual band name.
A summary of the show from Wikipedia reads:
It focuses on the Hollywood misadventures of four hockey players from Duluth, Minnesota - Kendall Knight, James Diamond, Carlos Garcia, and Logan Mitchell - after they are selected to form a boy band by fictional mega music producer Gustavo Rocque.
This show led to some confusion that still exists today. Just yesterday, I was talking to my co-host, Dunken, and he thought that Big Time Rush was actually from Minnesota because of this show.
It's understandable! You've got four guys using their actual names and the actual name of their band, but then pretending to be from Minnesota.
None of them are actually from Minnesota!
Kendall is from Kansas, James is from New York, Carlos is from Missouri, and Logan is from Texas. I don't know why it was decided to make up a story about being from Minnesota, I wish I did!
The celebrities below, however, are ACTUALLY from Minnesota.
