Cameo Restaurant in Downtown Rochester Temporarily Closing

Sad messages from downtown businesses in Rochester seem to be the trend this week. First, we heard that The Loop closed permanently. A second store on 1st Ave., Primp, is closing on July 31st. Now, a downtown restaurant is temporarily closing in order to "still have a business to operate when construction season and impacts from COVID-19 have subsided."

Cameo Restaurant shared the sorrowful news on their Facebook page Tuesday, July 28th:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the temporary closure of the restaurant for dine-in services and take out. COVID-19 coupled with ongoing construction all around the restaurant have made it impossible to be economically viable. This closure is necessary to ensure we still have a business to operate when construction season and impacts from COVID-19 have subsided.

Our last day of service will be this Saturday, August 1st. We would really appreciate support this week. We also have our last 2 days of Cameo by the Riverside this Friday/Saturday: reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 507-361-2070.
We will operating in some limited capacity through off site events (come visit us at our friends Thesis Beer Project and Little Thistle Brewing in August) as well as offering private chef dinners and meal kits for guests. We look towards the future and hope to be able to open our doors again as soon as possible. The amount of closures happening in Rochester and downtown specifically has been so hard on a lot of people. Small businesses need the support now more than ever. Grab a coffee from a local coffee shop, eat lunch or dinner at a local restaurant, buy art work from local artists and support those that need it!
