Local Food Bank Has Free Food for Those Affected by Last Week’s Storms
Many people were affected by last week's storms that rolled through southeast Minnesota. Many people had their power out for so long that food went bad in the refrigerator and freezer. If you're one of those people, there's a local food bank in Rochester that is here to help. Channel One Food Bank has free groceries for those who are struggling after losing food to the power outages last week.
They shared this information on their social media but it's important that this info reaches as many people as possible so those that need it know where to get help.
I spoke with Jessica who is with Channel One about the help they're offering to storm victims. She said that the process of getting free groceries from them is very easy and non-invasive. "We only ask for name, address and number of individuals in the household, and you can get groceries right away." They also do not ask for proof of income.
Channel One is open Monday through Thursday 8 AM - 6 PM and Friday 8 AM - noon. However, they won't be open this Friday the 24th or next Friday the 31st due to Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. According to their website, shoppers at the Food Bank are able to come every week.
