Chick-fil-A opened its first Rochester location back in 2018 at the Crossroads Shopping Center. People camped out for the grand opening, hoping to win free food. The first 100 people in line that day scored a year’s worth of free Chick-fil-A meals. It was busy that day, and it’s been packed pretty much every day since.

Now, a second Chick-fil-A is getting ready to open in Rochester, and they’ve got another fun promotion planned to celebrate the big day.

History of Chick-fil-A

It all started back in 1967 when S. Truett Cathy opened the very first Chick-fil-A inside Atlanta’s Greenbriar Shopping Center. Their signature chicken sandwich quickly became a hit, and soon Chick-fil-A restaurants were popping up in mall food courts across the country throughout the 1970s and early ’80s.

In 1986, Chick-fil-A opened its first stand-alone restaurant, shifting away from shopping malls. Fast forward to today, and the company has grown to more than 3,000 locations nationwide, including dozens right here in Minnesota!

According to Eat This, Not That!, Chick-fil-A has been ranked the #1 fast-food chain in America for nine years in a row, thanks to its delicious food and famously friendly customer service.

Chick-fil-A Announces Opening Date for Second Rochester Location

Back in September 2024, we shared that plans were in the works for a second Chick-fil-A in Rochester, taking over the spot where Wild Bill’s Sports Saloon once stood, just off Highway 52.

Chick-fil-A will open its second Rochester restaurant on Thursday, November 6!

The new location will be open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. And to make opening day even more exciting, anyone who shows up dressed in cow print will receive a free entrée.
