Minnesota Bank Robber Sentenced to Federal Prison
Minneapolis (KROC-AM News) - A Cottage Grove man has been sentenced to over 4 years in federal prison for bank robbery.
Prosecutors said 43-year-old Michael Prall used force, violence, and intimidation to steal thousands of dollars from three separate banks in the Twin Cities area in November 2021.
Court documents said Prall entered a bank in Cottage Grove in late November and presented a note to the teller directing the teller to give him the money in her cash drawer. Prall threatened that if the teller did not comply quickly, he would shoot her or someone else in the bank.
The bank teller complied, and Prall fled on foot. Law enforcement located and arrested him following a short foot chase.
Prosecutors said Prall was also responsible for a bank robbery at a bank in Bloomington where he stole over $2,500 and a robbery at a bank in Woodbury where he stole over $4,500.
Prall was sentenced to 57 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release Thursday. He pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery in March 2022.
