A federal appeals court is blocking the release of a Wisconsin man whose murder conviction was part of a Netflix documentary, even though his conviction was overturned.

The appeals court in Chicago ordered that Brendan Dassey not be released while prosecutors challenge the judge's decision that his confession to raping and killing Teresa Halabach was coerced.

Dassey was convicted in 2007 of helping his uncle kill Halabach two years earlier in a case that became the focus of the documentary "Making A Murderer."  A federal judge overturned that conviction and ordered Dassey released until last Thursday's emergency appeal.
