I'm no Chris Miksanek, The Med City Movie Guy, but I like movies. I used to watch movies like Mystery Science Theater 3000; either quoting the dialogue before it actually happens, or "heckling" the movie. I don't do that anymore, it annoys my wife and kids. But, some of the best conversations I've had have been trading movie dialogue.

Netflix and Rotten Tomatoes have compiled their Halloween movie lists. You can see the Rotten Tomatoes Best Horror Movies here. You can see The 10 Scariest Films on Netflix here.

Do you go for good screams? Blood and guts? I like a good suspense story; maybe a few laughs with a few really good surprises and some twists and turns along the way. Here are my Top Five Halloween Movie picks. Feel free to share yours in the comments.

    Zombieland

Zombieland shows up at #56 on Rotten Tomatoes list of Best Horror Films. It gets an 89% Fresh rating. Jesse Eisenberg is great as Columbus. He manages to survive the Zombie Apocalypse with Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin and Bill Murray.

It doesn't stream on Netflix, but I bet you can find it on the shelf at Family Video.

  • Tremors; 1990, starring Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Reba McEntire and Michael Gross. Photo Credit: YouTube screen capture.

    Tremors

Although it has an 84% Fresh score, Tremors didn't show up on Rotten Tomatoes list of Best Horror films. It doesn't stream on Netflix. You'll probably find it on the shelf over at Family Video on Elton Hills Drive. It's got a great combination of wacky humor and suspense.

    Final Destination

There's been five Final Destination films. The one that started the franchise only got a 34% Fresh Score on Rotten Tomatoes. It may seem a bit cheesy, but it is suspenseful watching each character meet their fate, in a grisly Rube Goldberg death-trap.

This is probably over at Family Video under "F" for Final, not to be confused with one of the sequels titled The Final Destination.

  • The Sixth Sense; Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment. Photo Credit: YouTube screen capture.

    The Sixth Sense

Is it possible that M. Night Shyamalan only has one good movie in him? He's never come close to the success and the surprise of The Sixth Sense. This is a really cool, creepy ghost story. And that one line we all remember from Haley Joel Osment about seeing dead people. The big surprise at the end is awesome.

The Sixth Sense streams on Netflix. But, hey, you're already at Family Video for the other ones...

    Stephen King's IT

Stephen King is the master of horror. He knows what we're all afraid of. Some of his stories are pretty good; like Carrie, The Shining, Christine and Misery. Some of his other stories are just plain, "What were you thinking?" IT is pretty chilling, mainly because of Tim Curry's Pennywise, the clown. The cast is pretty incredible, bringing together an ensemble of amazing television stars. Richard Thomas, Harry Anderson, John Ritter and Tim Reid. The story is pretty cool, but that ending. Oh, man, that ending.

Stephen King's IT is another one you can check for over at Family Video.
