Scammers Are Using Fake Jury Warrants in Dodge County

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the scammers are telling people they have warrants because they failed to appear for a jury trial.

In at least one case, the scammer went a step further and sent the victim a photo of what appeared to be a warrant.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that law enforcement will never call or text someone to collect money for a warrant.

“If you have a warrant, we won’t call ahead, we’ll just show up in person and arrest you!” Sheriff Scott said in the warning posted to Facebook Tuesday.

The DCSO says some of these scams can be convincing and is asking residents to share the warning with friends and family.

If you receive a call like this, do not send money or provide personal or financial information. Instead, contact the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office directly using a verified phone number to determine whether the call is legitimate.
