Downtown Minneapolis Bars Hours Extended During Super Bowl Weekend
This is great news if you're planning to partake in any of the festivities that weekend.
Minneapolis last hosted a Super Bowl back in 1992 at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Fast forward 25 years and the big game will once again grace the upper midwest city. But this time around, you can expect the parties to go much later into the night as several Minneapolis bars and restaurants will remain open until 4 a.m.
On Friday, the Minneapolis City Council voted to approve a resolution that would allow bars and restaurants in designated areas near US Bank Stadium to remain open two hours later during Super Bowl weekend.
However, only bars located downtown can apply for the permit, which costs $250.
The permit allows bars to remain open until 4 a.m. starting Friday, February 2nd through Monday, February 5th.
If the Vikings, or heaven forbid the Packers make the Super Bowl, I can see this turning into a bad idea really fast with fans getting extremely rowdy. Time will tell.
