
Egg-flation: The Wild Price Differences of Eggs in Rochester, MN
Egg prices are sky-high and the egg shortage has hit Rochester, Minnesota stores. I think I'm one of the rare people who actually doesn't buy many eggs but I still have noticed the shortage and every time I do buy eggs I definitely notice the price increase.
It's common knowledge that this price increase and shortage is due the the avian flu that's running rampant right now. People across the country have even started to buy chickens to keep in their backyard because of it.
I'm not sure if backyard chickens will solve the cost-woes because you do still need to pay for their coop, feed, etc. but you do you!

If you are not one of those people looking to try your hand at raising backyard chickens, this is for you. I took a look at pricing across Rochester stores to see where egg prices are really at right now. And also to see if there is any one store that has better prices than others.

Let's check these out in order from most to least expensive.
The Most to Least Expensive Places to Get Eggs in Rochester, MN Right Now
CUB:
Cub is the most expensive for eggs right now, with their Cub brand dozen eggs costing $7.49.
ALDI:
Aldi is up next but their Goldhen eggs are more than a dollar less than Cub's, costing $6.05 for a dozen.
PEOPLE'S FOOD CO-OP:
In downtown Rochester, you'll find the next grocery store on the list. People's Food Co-op has their Essential Everyday dozen eggs for $5.99.
WALMART:
For just a bit cheaper, you'll find Walmart's Great Value dozen eggs at $5.97.
TARGET:
Even cheaper but still over the $5 mark, Target is selling their Good and Gather dozen eggs for $5.49.
HY-VEE:
At Hy-Vee you can find their That's Smart dozen eggs for $5.46.
Heads up, though, if you don't log in and set your store location it pops up with the price of $5.97. I can confirm that the true price at all of the Rochester stores is $5.46, however.
COSTCO + TRADER JOE'S:
Up next, we have a tie between Costco and Trader Joe's. Costco doesn't sell a dozen eggs but their Dutch Farms carton of 18 eggs goes for $7.48, which comes out to about $4.99 for a dozen. Trader Joe's brand dozen eggs also cost $4.99.
SAM'S CLUB:
Sam's Club comes next but they also don't sell a dozen eggs. Their Members Mark 2 dozen eggs go for $9.24, though, and that comes to $4.62 per dozen.
NATURAL GROCERS:
Natural Grocers has the second-cheapest eggs in Rochester with their dozen eggs costing $4.29.
FRESH THYME:
And finally, drum roll please, the cheapest eggs in Rochester at the moment can be found at Fresh Thyme. Their Fresh Thyme brand dozen eggs are going for $3.99 right now.
Between the most expensive eggs to the least expensive eggs in town, there's a $3.50 difference. That's crazy!
