Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Several hundred Rochester Public Utilities customers in the downtown core lost electrical service for about 45 minutes Monday morning.

The outage began around 9:35 am and an RPU spokeswoman said it affected an estimated 800 customers.

RPU says “The cause was equipment failure serving parts of downtown near 1st St and 1st Ave SW.”

A preliminary report indicates there may have been an explosion in a manhole.

The Townsquare Media building was among those left in the dark.
