Excessive Heat Warning Issued for Southern Minnesota Today
The National Weather Service has issued Heat Advisories and an Excessive Heat Warning for southern Minnesota in effect until 9 pm tonight.
High temperatures will climb into the 90s this afternoon, with the heat index rising to anywhere between 100 and 110 degrees -- causing dangerous conditions.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
Heat related illness is the third deadliest weather factor in Minnesota since 1990.
The stretch of hot weather is expected to last through most of next week. Tuesday and Wednesday look to be the next hottest days ahead.
