Lanesboro
Sticking within SE Minnesota, Lanesboro always makes the lists of great places to visit. It doesn't matter when you're visiting, Lanesboro seems to thrive in any season. Check out some of the local hiking, maybe hit up the Root River Trail, and stop at their cute local shops downtown.

Red Wing
Another SE Minnesota spot that's stunning in the fall. With the Mississippi River as a backdrop, you can't go wrong visiting Red Wing. I'd recommend stopping by Wisteria Twig for a good meal and hot cup of tea.

Decorah
Near SE Minnesota is Decorah in northern Iowa. This is one of the cutest towns I've ever been to. The scenery is beautiful surrounded by bluffs, and the town is... well, cute! I would highly recommend visiting here in the fall. Plus Toppling Goliath is there, so.

New Ulm
Heading west a bit, New Ulm is also the perfect spot for a fall day trip. If you've never been, it's a little German town with great shops and restaurants, and cool German history. It's also the home of the famous Schell's Brewing.
