The shocking news broke today that all Family Video locations throughout the United State will be closing, including all stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.  A sign at the Rochester, Minnesota location states, "No Rentals. Store Closing. Everything for Sale. All Sales Final.".

According to several news sources, a press release was shared earlier today indicating the store closings for all Family Video locations.  Stores have now begun their liquidation sales which include selling movies, video games, CBD products, and fixtures in the store.

I reached out to Highland Ventures Ltd. who owns the Family Video brand to obtain a copy of the press release with more information and details.  As of right now, nothing has been posted on their website other than press releases from February 2019 and earlier and general information about Family Video, including the following:

Family Video is the nation’s largest video store chain. In a time when most other chains have lost their way, Family Video continues to thrive by giving millions of customers what they want in a fun and friendly store. Customer service that exceeds expectation is what we do every day in over 575 stores across the US.
