Farm Aid Celebrating 40 Years with Star-Studded Concert in Minnesota
This year's concert Farm Aid festival will take place in Minnesota on September 20th, 2025. This annual benefit concert was founded by music icons Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp in 1985 as a way to help families through the major farm crisis of the 1980s.
They’ve been hosting the festival, and helping farmers, every year since. To date, Farm Aid has raised more than $80 million for family farms. This year's Farm Aid concert will take place at Huntington Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Who Is Performing at Farm Aid 2025 in Minnesota
Fans will see incredible performances from the original founders – Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp – alongside Farm Aid board members Dave Matthews (who joined in 2001) and Margo Price (the first female board member, joining in 2021).
I went to Farm Aid in Milwaukee in 2010 and had a blast. Willie, John, Neil, and Dave were joined that day by Kenny Chesney and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. Minnesota favorites, Trampled by Turtles, and others will be joining the lineup for the Minnesota show.
Farm Aid's website explains their goal to support family farms year round:
We know that to keep family farmers on the land we have to increase the number of people buying their good food. From our annual concert event that features family farm food and unites farmers, artists, and concerned citizens, to our inspiring and informative tv, radio, mail and web campaigns (including our HOMEGROWN.org website), we are building a powerful movement for good food from family farms.
Don't miss the 40th anniversary of this iconic event! Info for the Farm Aid concert in Minnesota was posted on farmaid.org and tickets go on sale Friday, May 16th.
