Mabel, MN (KROC-AM News) - The victim of a deadly collision in Fillmore County New Year’s Day morning was a teenage boy.

The State Patrol is indicating the 17-year-old was a passenger in a car that collided with a semi-truck around 10:30 AM on Highway 44 on the east edge of Mabel. The preliminary report says the car turned into the truck, which was headed east on Highway 44 carrying over 30 cattle. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch on the south side of the highway.

Reports indicate the truck driver was not hurt, but the driver of the car was airlifted to a La Crosse hospital in critical condition and another passenger was transported by ambulance. Their names, and the name of the teenager killed in the crash, have not been released.
