Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - Agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension have been dispatched to Albert Lea to investigate a fatal police shooting.

A statement issued this afternoon by the Albert Lea Police Department indicates the deadly incident occurred around 10 AM after officers responded to a 911 call involving the person in an alleyway in the 300 block of Court Street. After locating the individual, the officers ended up opening fire and shot the person. The officers then attempted life-saving measures, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The person’s name has not been released.

The statement says the officers involved in the shooting were not equipped with body cameras and investigators are working to determine whether the dash cameras on police vehicles at the scene recorded the incident. Officials also indicate the officers have been placed on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
