Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A fire broke out Wednesday at a Rochester apartment house.

Rochester firefighters were called to 111 8th Ave SE just before 5:00 PM and spotted smoke a few blocks away.

They were told by one tenant the fire had started in the main floor unit. Flames had spread to the second floor attic area and firefighters had a hard time gaining access because the stairs had been damaged and could not be used.

The Rochester Fire Dept. says there was heavy fire, smoke and water damage throughout the three-unit house.
