Undated (KROC AM News) -  Continuous and in some cases heavy rain fell Saturday across parts of southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa.

The National Weather Service has received numerous reports of flash flooding that left roads either washed out or underwater.

Fillmore County received 2 - 5 inches of rain in many areas and Spring Valley reported more than 6 ½ inches. Fillmore County Sheriff Tom Kaase issued a report at 8:00 PM Saturday that indicated the hardest hit areas were west of Preston, south of Stewartville-Spring Valley-Wykoff, and Ostrander. Harmony was also hit by flash flooding. Kaase said one of his deputies became stranded between CR 30 and Klondike Road because of high water but was able to make it to safety.

More than six inches of rain fell in Winneshiek County in northeast Iowa, forcing the evacuation of a campground. Severe weather also caused damage and downed trees in northeast Iowa. There were several reports of funnel clouds but most of the damage was the result of high winds, some clocked at 75-80mph.

The National Weather Service says the impact from Saturday’s rain “will continue with several closed or damaged roads. Many rivers will also rise with minor to moderate flooding expected at many locations through Monday.”

Rochester’s rainfall total from Friday/Saturday measured 1.5 inches. More rain is in the forecast for Monday and Monday night.
