Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - A first-degree criminal sexual conduct conviction has resulted in a nearly 14-year prison sentence for a Goodhue man.

45-year-old Michael Germain and his wife were prosecuted for sexually assaulting a teenage girl, and according to court documents, trying to recruit her into the "swinging lifestyle." 50-year-old Heather Germain was allowed to enter a guilty plea to a felony child neglect charge and a gross misdemeanor drug charge. She was sentenced to 5 years on probation and was given a stay of adjudication, which means the conviction will be erased from her record if she successfully completes the conditions of her probation, which includes registering as a predatory sex offender.

Friday’s sentencing hearing followed a two-year investigation into allegations of sexual contact between the victim and the couple beginning when she was 15 years old. Court records indicated a search warrant executed by investigators resulted in the seizure of sexually explicit videos and images of the victim. Investigators stated the evidence was found in what is described as a “sex room” in the attic above the couple’s detached garage.
