When I learned that Jayme Closs was found alive I was totally shocked and also, obviously, very glad that she was able to escape her captor. I can't imagine being trapped for 88 days and then still having the will power to escape. Jayme is a tough girl, to say the least!

Naturally, she has a long road of recovery ahead of her and some of us are wondering what we can do to help Jayme. Many KARE 11 viewers had the same question so KARE 11's Julie Nelson reached out to Jayme's aunt, Jennifer Smith.

Julie says in a Facebook post that she spoke with Jennifer on the phone. Jennifer says that Jayme is sleeping through the night and they're trying to keep her "happily distracted" at home during this whole process, while everything plays out.

Julie asked Jennifer what people can do to help Jayme. Jennifer said if people want they can send Jayme cards or gifts.

Here is a list of things that Jennifer says Jayme likes:

  • Books and magazines
  • Arts and crafts
  • DVDs
  • Clothes (women's size small)

She also said that Jayme's favorite colors are blue and green.

If you would like to send Jayme a card or gift you can send it to the following address:

Light the Way Home for Jayme Closs

P.O. Box 539

Rice Lake, WI 54868
