Game-Changing Cleaning Hack for Every Minnesota Car Owner
Living in Minnesota means our cars face all sorts of weather, which brings in a lot of dirt and grime. A quick car wash will help with the exterior but cleaning the interior can be more challenging.
Salt, sand, gravel, mud, grass, and even hair will find their way onto our floor mats and get embedded stubbornly into the fibers. Over time, this accumulation can leave our once pristine floor mats looking tired and worn. But fear not, because I found the secret to restoring them to their former glory and it won't cost you more than a couple of bucks.
Take a trip to the Dollar Store and you'll be ready to make those floor mats look new.
Having two young kids means I'm always cleaning up my car. I find all sorts of stuff like cookies, French fries, fruit snacks, and crayons stuffed between the back seats or squished into the floor mats. We also spend a lot of time outdoors so we're all guilty of tracking sand and dirt into my car.
I've tested out all the vacuums at various car washes, but none of them seem to have enough suction power to fully clean my floor mats. Plus, as I mentioned, with two young kids, I don't have spare cash lying around to splurge on getting my car detailed so I'm happy that I found this clever trick on TikTok.
My vehicle is a decade old, and honestly, the floor mats were in rough shape. I own hard plastic all-weather mats for winter, but I prefer the soft, comfy ones that originally came with the car.

To make your mats look brand new, go to your nearby Dollar Store and grab a cheap toilet brush with a thin handle. After that, return home and cut off most of the handle. Then, you'll want to attach the brush to your cordless drill.
Boom! You've just created a power brush that'll tackle any mess in your floor mats. I gave this trick a shot, and it worked like a charm. Check out the video below to see it in action.
