Iowa’s Most Expensive Town May Also Have the Most Awkward Name
Not only is this small town considered the most expensive place to live in the state, but it also has a name that is considered offensive by many.
The name of the town hasn't always been thought of as taboo, but these days, jokes are often cracked at the town's expense.
Welcome to the Small Iowa Town of Cumming, Iowa
Why is it so expensive to live in this small town, located on the outskirts of the Des Moines metropolitan area? Here's what Neighborhood Scout has to say on the subject:
Cumming has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities as they leave nearby or far away areas for greener pastures. This seems to be the case in Cumming, where the median household income is $99,583.00.
Cumming real estate is some of the most expensive in Iowa, although Cumming house values don't compare to the most expensive real estate in the U.S.
