A new list of the most expensive restaurants in every state was just posted by Lovefood.com, and for Minnesota, the top pick is a sleek, intimate tasting-menu restaurant that maxes out at just 20 seats. It’s run by one of the Twin Cities' most celebrated chefs, and it’s not exactly your typical night out.

Chef Gavin Kaysen’s Demi in Minneapolis is the Most Expensive and Exclusive Restaurant in Minnesota

Tucked away in Minneapolis’s North Loop, Demi opened in 2019 and is a tiny, super-fancy restaurant with the 20 or so seats wrapped around an open kitchen.

Currently, Demi has two tasting menus: a 7-course priced at $125 per person and an 11-course for $175 per person. However, it’s the special event lineup where prices jump significantly that makes it the most expensive in the state.

Demi’s North Star Series features Michelin-star-level guest chefs and tickets for that are quite the culinary flex at $695 a person. The price includes beverage pairings, tax, gratuity, and even a gift bag.

Demi is an intimate, tasting menu only affair, with plates of food elegantly cooked and artfully presented. So, is it worth it? That’s between you and your wallet, but for what it's worth, one food critic for the Star Tribune described Demi as “a complete joy, a revelatory sensory experience that’s unlike any other in the state.”
