I Found an iPhone Trick That Silenced the Annoying Spam Calls for Good

We all rely on our phones for just about everything… calls, texts, directions, reminders, and keeping tabs on our finances. But sometimes, that convenience backfires.

A few weeks ago, I made the dumb mistake of entering my phone number into a financial calculator on a website. I didn’t think much of it at the time, I was just trying to get a quick answer. But almost immediately after, the spam calls started. Telemarketers, random numbers, calls that looked local but weren’t. They came in nonstop.

Hitting “ignore” every time was fine for a bit, but the calls started increasing, and that wasn’t enough. Blocking numbers didn’t work because the spammers would just call from different numbers.

How to Block Spam Calls on iPhone

If you haven’t heard of the 'Silence Unknown Callers' setting yet, this could be a game-changer for you. How it works is pretty simple. It stops your phone from ringing when a number that's not in your contacts calls you. Instead of interrupting your day, those calls go straight to voicemail. You can still see the missed call and check the voicemail if you want, but your phone stays quiet.

How to Turn On the ‘Silence Unknown Callers’ iPhone Setting:

• Open the ‘Settings’ app.
• Scroll down and tap ‘Apps.’
• Find and tap the ‘Phone’ app
• Scroll down and tap ‘Silence Unknown Callers’
• Toggle it ‘On’

That’s it. No more constant interruptions from numbers you don’t recognize.

Do keep in mind, this setting sends calls from numbers not in your contacts, messages, or recent outgoing calls straight to voicemail. That means if someone you do want to hear from tries to call and you haven’t saved their number, you might miss the ring, but they'll still have the chance to leave a message.

It’s been more than worth it for me. The random calls have dropped off, and I can finally get through my day without constant distractions.
