If you have a dog, I'm betting that at some point, you've had to check online whether something they ate was dangerous for them or not, and perhaps that even escalated to the point where your veterinarian had to get involved.

However, some dog breeds are as food-driven as others. I once had a Beagle named Zoey, and she would eat anything; it didn't matter if it was food or not. I could write an entire story about the time she ate hand warmers and almost died, but I'll save that for another time. All I can say is her pet insurance more than paid for itself.

The reason I'm writing now is because it's Halloween season, and this is the time people in Wisconsin are getting candy and trying not to eat it all before trick-or-treaters arrive on October 31.

It's also the time when dog owners need to stay on their toes regarding what candy is now in the house and make sure it's kept away from their furry family members. No candy is good for dogs, and some Halloween treats can be downright dangerous, and even deadly.

Below is a short list of the most dangerous candies that must be kept away from dogs. I won't judge you if you eat it all, however.

CAUTION: These popular Halloween foods are dangerous to dogs!

Our adorable pups might be great at begging but if you give in, Halloween could end up being an even scarier time for your pooch. According to the American Kennel Club, the following Halloween favorites are foods you should avoid giving to your dog.
