Tax season is here and of course, with that comes scammers waiting to take advantage of anyone they can.

There's always some sort of scam going around and when it comes to money or finances, scammers know that getting a warning or message will cause people to panic without second guessing.

Now, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue is warning residents about a big time scam they need to be aware of.

They shared details of the scam on their social media pages Monday (February 3rd), giving more insight into what to look out for.

BEWARE Of This IRS Texting Scam

This is scary! According to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, scammers are pretending to be employees with the IRS.

They are contacting taxpayers asking for personal information, telling them they have to respond in order to get an Economic Impact Payment.

Obviously, scammers get your personal information. The Wisconsin Department of Revenue says that no action is required to get your Economic Impact Payment so if you get a text like this, ignore it!

The payments will be automatically put into your account. If you do get a text like this, ignore it and report it to the IRS immediately.

For someone like me who is completely clueless about taxes, even in my adult life for the most part, I would probably fall for something like this. Be careful out there!
