Can This Band Revive Wisconsin’s 2nd Largest Stadium as a Concert Venue?
Wisconsin's largest stadium shouldn't be too hard to figure out, seating just over 81,000 fans, Lambeau Field takes the top spot, but the second-largest stadium isn't much smaller.
And believe it or not, Wisconsin's second-largest stadium hasn't hosted a concert in nearly 30 years, after hosting some of the biggest bands in the world in the 80s and 90s.

Camp Randall Stadium, the home of the Wisconsin Badgers football team since 1917, has a capacity for around 75,000 football fans, and around 60,000 concert-goers, and in 2025 it will host its first concert since 1997.
Camp Randall has hosted bands like the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, U2, and Genesis, but after some poorly attended shows in 1997 from U2 and The Rolling Stones, the stadium and its operator, the University of Wisconsin athletic department, decided to not have concerts anymore.
But changes in the NCAA allowing for student athletes to be paid, has forced the athletic department to explore new streams of revenue, and part of the strategy is for the stadium to once again host concerts.
It was announced earlier this week, that Coldplay will be bringing their 'Music Of The Spheres World Tour' to Camp Randall Stadium Saturday, July 19th, 2025.
Tickets for the show go on sale today at noon through the UWBadgers website, tickets look like they'll be priced between $75 and $600.
According to BadgerExtra.com, the university made a promise to neighbors of the stadium that no more than two concerts would be hosted per year at the stadium, but the agreement was made in the 90s, so no word on if that promise still holds in 2024.
Madison, stuck between Chicago and Minneapolis, is a hard sell for concert promoters, so I'm sure a lot of eyes in the concert booking world will be looking at how this show performs and if it's worth making stops at Camp Randall in the future.
