One of the most vibrant signs of spring in Minnesota is tulips blooming in gardens across the state.

Growing up, I can remember the beautiful multi-colored perennials bursting open in the flower beds along the edge of my childhood home in Central Minnesota being one of my favorite signs of the season.

While this winter wasn't particularly brutal, it's still a welcome sight to see signs of warmer weather bursting across the region. That colorful sign of the season is coming into full bloom at a massive Minnesota tulip garden that features over 40,000 of these flowers along with many other varieties of colorful flora.

Found in Chaska, in the southwestern part of the Twin Cities area, is the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Every year, the arboretum welcomes visitors to see their beautiful tulip blooms, but that's not all they have to offer.

As you'd expect from a large arboretum, there are numerous flowering plants, several of which are coming into their springtime bloom, making this a very exciting time of year for many.

The arboretum shared an update on Tuesday saying their tulips are "emerging and will continue to bloom". This opens a window when visitors will be able to enjoy this expansive series of gardens where they have tulips in a rainbow of colors.

Whether you're looking to take photos or just drink in the beauty, this is a must-visit!

The photos in this article are among the images I captured during my visit last May.

Last year, I went for the first time to check out this spectacle. I ended up going toward the end of their bloom, and still got an incredible experience out of the deal. Tulips were just past their peak, but multiple other flowers were also coming into bloom, and touring the expansive arboretum grounds with over 5,000 species and varieties of plant life to see throughout the year.

Hours for various parts of the arboretum grounds vary by specific attraction and time of year. The facility itself is open every day, except for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. You can see the latest seasonal hours, details about tours, or get tickets via the arboretum's website.
