Donald Trump reportedly responded to the news that then-Vice President, Mike Pence, was potentially in danger during the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, extremely flippant.
According to the Daily Beast, the comment was revealed in the 165-page filing from the Justice Department that was unsealed looking into the events that unfolding during the deadly riot.
In the filing, one of the former president's aides informed him that Pence had been taken to an undisclosed location, and that his life might be in danger, in which Trump allegedly responded, saying: "'So what?'"
Hours before the riot, Pence released a statement telling Trump and his followers that he wouldn't interfere with the country's vote and stop Joe Biden from becoming president.

Following Pence's statement, Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) stating that Pence lacked 'the courage" to stand behind his belief that the election was rigged against him. Shortly after, Trump's followers stormed the Capitol.
Trump took to Truth Social railing against the decision to unseal the documents, claiming it was done to hurt his chances of winning the upcoming election.
"The release of this falsehood-ridden, unconstitutional, J6 brief immediately following Tim Walz’s disastrous Debate performance, and 33 days before the Most Important Election in the History of our Country, is another obvious attempt by the Harris-Biden regime to undermine and Weaponize American Democracy," he wrote.
