Tribal Dispensary Announces Plans For Two More Locations, Including Twin Cities
A tribal dispensary, with a St. Cloud location, has plans to expand to two more locations this year, including one in the west metro. This would be one of the first dispensaries to open in the Twin Cities area, and the second location would be right on the border with North Dakota.
Growing From 3 to 5 Locations In 2026
Waabigwan Mashkiki, a White Earth Tribe-run dispensary with three current locations in Minnesota, plans to expand in the next few months to two additional locations, including one in the Twin Cities and another on the border with North Dakota.
Currently, Waabigwan Mashkiki operates dispensaries in Manohmen, Moorhead, and Saint Cloud. The two new locations will be in East Grand Forks and in Chanhassen.
According to a social media post from the brand, the expansion "position[s] ourselves for long-term opportunity."
Chanhassen Location Offers An Event Space
What makes the Twin Cities location in Chanhassen stand out is that there is an event space tied to the location, meaning that Waabigwan Mashkiki would be able to host permitted events and 'adult-use experiences' on site under the current Minnesota laws.
The East Grand Forks location offers the dispensary a large potential customer base in a small radius.
The locations for Chanhassen and East Grand Forks are expected to be located at:
951 W 78th St., Chanhassen, MN 55317
926 Central Avenue NE, East Grand Forks, MN 56721

Minnesota Marijuana Rollout Is Still Very Slow
Recreational marijuana was legalized on May 30th, 2023. The law officially took effect on August 1, 2023, allowing adults 21 and older to possess, use, and transport cannabis. Since then, the rollout has been moving at a glacially slow pace. Most dispensaries in Minnesota that are open are run by tribal entities rather than the private industry.
