With the trees starting to change over to hues of yellows, oranges, and reds it's also a time of change. Birds fly south, bears prepare for hibernation, and a certain drive-in closes up after another season in the sun. Sue's Drive-In in Pierz posted to social media Sunday they were closed for the year, where does the time go?

Sue's just celebrated 60 years of summer memories, juicy burgers, and mouth-watering onion rings and the current owner Roger Schulte still seems to enjoy running the seasonal Central Minnesota summertime staple.

The business originally opened up for the first time back in the 60s known then as Al's Drive-In before it was purchased by Roger's sister Sue in 1985 and changed to Sue's Drive-In. Roger took over for Sue in 2019.

According to the Morrison County Record Sue's Drive-In has been visited by some rather famous people including Mr. Mission Impossible himself Tom Cruise! (Tom Cruise at one point had a cabin up in Cross Lake so this makes sense)

60 years of first dates, 60 years of memories for Central Minnesotans.

While it's sad to know Sue's has closed up for the season there is always some positive that comes from the closing...

There are only a few guarantees in life, death, and taxes are two of the more famous guarantees, but knowing that come springtime in Central Minnesota, a sliding window will open up, and the smell of malts, burgers, cheese curds, and onion rings will waft out, and we will know both spring and Sue's are back.

Thanks, Roger for all the memories, and knowing more will be made next year.
