Alcohol Suspected in Austin Crash That Hospitalized Three People
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- The State Patrol suspects alcohol was involved in a single-vehicle crash on I-90 in Austin early Tuesday morning.
State Troopers responded to the wreck shortly after midnight. The crash occurred at the I-90/11th Dr. Northeast interchange.
The state crash report indicates an SUV was traveling east on I-90 when it lost control and crashed into the concrete median wall. The driver was identified as 20-year-old Devon Lee of Albert Lea.
Lee and his two passengers, 19-year-old Gavin Lawson of Albert Lea and a 17-year-old boy were all taken to an Austin hospital. Lee and Lawson’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening. The teenager’s condition was not disclosed.
The report indicates that Lee and Lawson were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Lawson and the teenager were not buckled when the wreck occurred, according to the crash report.
The road was described as wet. The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Police Department, Austin Fire Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance also responded to the crash.
