Authorities Investigating Suspicious Death of Minnesota Child
Moorhead, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in northwestern Minnesota have released some additional information concerning a suspicious death investigation involving a young child.
The Moorhead Police Department has identified the victim as three-year-old Eastyn Deronjic.
A news release says officers and Moorhead firefighters were dispatched to a residence early Monday morning in response to a report of a child not breathing. Paramedics transported the toddler to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators say the three-year-old and the younger sibling had been staying at the residence for an extended period of time. They are under the primary care of acquaintances of the biological parents.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office was asked to perform an autopsy. Moorhead Police say they are still waiting for the preliminary results.
No charges have been filed in the case. The news release says the younger sibling of the deceased child has been placed into protective custody.
