Body of Missing Minnesota Teen Recovered From Lake Michigan
Beverly Shores, IN (KROC-AM News) - There's been a tragic end to the search for a missing Minnesota teenager.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources this afternoon reported that the body of the 17-year-old boy from Eagan was recovered this morning from Lake Michigan. He had been missing since Tuesday afternoon.
An earlier news release indicated authorities in the Beverly Shores Indiana area just east of Chicago received a 911 call Tuesday afternoon concerning the multiple swimmers in distress in Lake Michigan. Emergency responders found "two distressed swimmers and a Good the Samaritan" on the shore of the lake requiring medical attention. All three were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials then confirmed that a third swimmer was unaccounted for and was last seen about 300 feet from the shoreline. The initial search and rescue effort was hindered by large waves and the US Coast Guard deployed drones to look for the missing teenager.
The Coroner's Office in Porter County, Indiana has identified the victim as 17-year-old Max Moras Loeza.
