Parkin says the crash investigation indicates the passenger car rear ended the bus when it was stopped with its lights flashing and stop sign displayed.
The bus, which Parkin said had five kids onboard at the time of the rear-ending, suffered minor rear-end damage and the car’s airbags activated following the collision.
A small child was riding in the car in a car seat, the sheriff’s office report says. The child was brought to a hospital as a precautionary measure Parkin said.
A Chatfield Ambulance crew responded to the scene to evaluate the children on the bus. None of the bus occupants were injured.
The car driver, described as an adult female, was cited for careless driving. Her name has not been released.
