Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man who was charged with barging into a Rochester woman's home and confronting her with a gun has accepted a plea agreement that resulted in a 5-year prison sentence.

38-year-old Ahmad Godbold, who now has a Spring Valley address, has entered a guilty plea to illegal possession of a firearm in exchange for the dismissal of another weapons-related charge stemming from an incident at Bob's Trailer Court in rural Southeast Rochester last October. According to the criminal complaint he was caught in possession of two handguns, including one with a scratched-out serial number, even though he was prohibited from having any firearms due to previous felony convictions.

The plea deal also led to the dismissal of a first-degree armed robbery charge and a count of first-degree burglary stemming from the home invasion in Rochester last April. In that case, he was accused of forcing his way into a woman's home while holding a gun to her face. The victim told investigators Godbold took her phone and ordered her to get in the bathroom before he fled from her residence with the phone and some cash.

As part of the plea agreement, the woman was allowed to give a victim's statement to the court even though the charges connected to the attack at her home were dropped.
