Update: State Patrol Identifies Victim of Fatal Dump Truck Crash Near Rochester 

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The fatal crash that closed a section of Highway 63 north of Rochester this afternoon claimed the life of a Zumbro Falls man.

Information released this evening by the State Patrol indicates the 30-year-old victim was driving north on Highway 63 when his pickup collided with a southbound dump truck. The deadly crash was reported at 2:20 PM about 1 mile north of the 75th Street roundabout intersection.

The name of the crash victim and the driver of the dump truck have not been released. The State Patrol has indicated the other driver is an 80-year-old man from Rochester.

The fatal crash caused the closure of Highway 63 in both directions from 75th Street north to Olmsted County Road 21. After the crash, the Minnesota Department of Transportation indicated the highway could remain closed for several hours and, as of 6 PM, the detour was still in place.

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that traffic is being detoured off of Highway 63 north of Rochester due to a serious crash.

The MnDOT notice indicates the highway is expected to be closed for several hours while the crash is investigated. Reports indicate that it occurred north of the 75th Street roundabout intersection.

The Minnesota State Patrol is indicating at least one person was killed in the crash.
