Domestic Dispute Call Leads to Arson Charge For Rochester Woman
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman is facing an arson charge stemming from a domestic dispute that occurred in late May.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court, Rochester police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at a duplex in northwest Rochester around 10:15 PM on the night of May 30. When they arrived at the property, one of the officers reported hearing a fire alarm sounding throughout the building and a burnt odor in the residence.
The court document says the husband of 56-year-old Dena Lyn Cage told the officers that she had poured lighter fluid over his clothes in the closet and set them on fire with a lighter. The complaint says an officer also spoke with Cage, who admitted spraying the lighter fluid on her husband's clothing and starting them on fire.
The criminal complaint does not state how much damage was caused by the fire.
She faces a gross misdemeanor count of fourth-degree arson involving setting the fire in a multiple unit residential or public building. She has been summoned to appear in court for arraignment on the charge next month.
