
Missing 22-Year-Old in Crisis in Winona County Maybe Avoiding Being Found, Sheriff’s Office Says
Houston, MN (KROC-AM News)- Search efforts are continuing in southeast Minnesota for a missing young man believed to be in crisis.

22-year-old Elijah Michael McCumber was reported missing over the Memorial Day Weekend. He was last seen shortly before 7:30 Saturday on Echo Valley Dr., which is a dead-end road in southeastern Winona County.
The Winona County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies have spent the days following his disappearance searching wooded areas near where he was last seen.

Search Effort Continues for 22-Year-Old Elijah McCumber in Southeastern Winona County
McCumber was last wearing a black t-shirt, black baseball hat, gray sweatpants and was carrying a black backpack.
His family says his facial hair is longer than what is seen in pictures shared by law enforcement.
An update on the search posted to the sheriff’s office Facebook page Wednesday night indicates search teams have found signs of McCumber being in the area and that he may be attempting to avoid being found.
State Patrol, La Crosse Police Department Join Search Effort
K-9 Teams, the State Patrol Helicopter, drones and thermal imaging equipment have been deployed during the search.

The La Crosse Police Department is also working with Minnesota authorities “to investigate all possibilities,” the Winona County Sheriff’s Office says.
Public Asked to Avoid Wooded Search Area
Authorities plan to continue ground searches. Members of the public are being asked to avoid the wooded areas being searched due to private land and McCumber’s mental state.
The sheriff’s office says no public search is planned.
Authorities are requesting landowners in the area to check outbuildings, hunting blinds, and other structures on their property on a daily basis.
