Wells, MN (KROC-AM News)- A southern Minnesota house fire claimed the life of the woman who was inside of the home.

That’s according to a news release issued by the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office. The fatal fire happened shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday. 

Deputies responded to the fire call at a rural residence in the 23,000 block of 600th Ave near Wells, which is about 20 miles northwest of Albert Lea

88-Year-Old Woman Dies at Scene of Minnesota House Fire

Upon arrival, first responders learned a woman identified as 88-year-old Shirley Lemons was inside of the burning home.

She was located inside and taken out of the structure for immediate treatment, the news release says.

Lemons was then evaluated by an ambulance crew and a Mayo Clinic Air Care crew at the scene. She was pronounced deceased by the first responders. 

The cause of the fire is not yet available. No other injuries were reported.
