Fatal Shooting Reported in Mankato

Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - Police in Mankato are investigating a fatal shooting.

The Mankato Public Safety Department says officers responded to a report of multiple gunshots in the 300 block of Balcerzak Drive near All Seasons Arena just before 12:20 AM today and found a man in the street suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Lifesaving measures were initiated at the scene before the man was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office has been asked to perform an autopsy to confirm the victim's identity along with the cause and manner of his death.

The news release on the incident indicates a witness reported seeing another male flee the area on foot after hearing the gunfire. The potential suspect was described as being about 6 foot 2, 160 pounds, and wearing dark clothing with the hood up.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
