Federal Judge Sentences Minnesota Man to 25 Years in Prison
Duluth, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Minnesota man is headed to federal prison for 25 years.
The US Attorney's Office for Minnesota says 30-year-old Stephen Jeremiah Hansen earlier admitted to charges of production and attempted production of child pornography involving young children. According to court documents, the Carlton man "engaged in a pattern of sexually abusing children, including at least six children between the ages of 2 and 12 years old."
Federal prosecutors say Hansen captured videos and photos of the child sexual abuse on his cell phone. At least 250 images of child sexual abuse materials were found in his possession. The US Attorney's Office says those digital files included materials he created and others downloaded from the Internet.
In addition to the 300 month prison term, Hansen's sentencing order also includes 15 years of supervised release following his discharge from federal custody.
The charges against the northeastern Minnesota man were the result of an investigation led by the FBI, the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, and the St. Paul Police Department.
