Fire Torches Winona Home, Investigation Underway
Winona, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are investigating a fire that torched a home in southeast Minnesota early Tuesday morning.
The Winona Fire Department says a Sergeant on patrol came across the blaze around 12:45 a.m. The structure was described as “heavily involved in fire.”
Fire crews responded to the scene and had the fire under control by about 1:15 a.m., officials say. The fire was reported at a home in the 200 block of St. Charles St. in eastern Winona.
The lone occupant escaped the burning home before firefighters arrived and was displaced as a result of the fire.
No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross responded to assist the displaced resident with finding shelter.
A damage estimate for the fire is not available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
