Guilty Plea in Rochester Child Pornography Investigation
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man today admitted to a child pornography charge stemming from a Rochester Police Department investigation last year.
30-year-old Darith Chan Hin entered a guilty plea to a single count of possession of child pornography. The criminal complaint against him alleged that numerous videos were found on his cell phone depicting young girls, around 8 to 10 years old, engaged in sexual acts.
The search of the cell phone occurred after Rochester Police executed search warrants last July that led to the seizure of the phone and other electronic devices. A total of three residences were searched as part of the investigation, which was launched after police received a cyber tip involving suspected child sexual abuse materials that had been saved to a Verizon account linked to Hin.
The court document says Hin admitted to downloading the videos from the links he received as a participant in group chats on Facebook Messenger.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in August. His plea deal calls for a stayed prison sentence and probation.
