Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)-The Mower County Sheriff’s Office has identified the people who involved in a fiery fatal crash over the weekend in southeast Minnesota

First responders were called to the deadly two-vehicle crash shortly before 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

A car and pickup traveling in opposite directions had collided at an intersection in Rose Creek, which is about 10 miles southeast of Austin. Authorities said the car became engulfed by a fire after the collision. 

A woman from Waterloo, IA was trapped inside. First responders rescued her from the vehicle and provided aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, Mower County Sheriff Steve Sandvik said.

A 69-year-old Waterloo, IA man was driving the car. Authorities described the second passenger as 26-year-old Waterloo, IA man. 

Both men suffered serious injuries and were brought to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Austin for further care, the Mower County Sheriff’s Office said. 

Woman Killed in Fiery Mower County Crash Identified, Names of Three Men Injured in Deadly Collision Also Released

On Monday, Sandvik identified the woman killed in the crash as 73-year-old Ana Farias De Torres, the driver as Ignacio Torres Valencia and the 26-year-old passenger as Giovanni Hilario Torres-Birrueta. 

An update on the conditions of the Iowa men is not available. Sandvik said the occupants of the car were related. 

60-year-old Kenneth Duane Haarstad of Austin was identified as the pickup driver. Authorities say he was towing a flatbed trailer. 

Haarstad was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Authorities say weather and road conditions were factors in the fatal crash.
