Historic Rochester Interview Featured in History Channel Documentary
In 1940, a patient at the Mayo Clinic stopped by the KROC studios for an interview about a book he had recently published. His name was John F. Kennedy.
The 23-year-old future president discussed his book “Why England Slept.” The interview lasted for just under seven minutes.
Clips from the interview were featured in an eight-episode History Channel Documentary called Kennedy. The documentary aired last month as the nation marked the 60th anniversary of the 35th president’s assaination in Dallas, Tx.
The Rochester interview is believed to be Kennedy’s earliest known audio recording and is one of more than 70 interviews featured in the documentary.
The History Channel’s website says the documentary “chronicles the remarkable life, enduring legacy, and ambitious leadership of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States.”
